Best in Show

Another great fashion week has come and gone with breathtaking shows coming from New York, Paris, Milan, and London. Here's a recap of my personal favorites!

Moschino

Who didn't get nostalgic watching this barbie themed show? I had those shoes! I remember that dress! Maybe a tad tacky, but if you can't have fun with fashion whats the point?

Betsey Johnson

It's not a Betsey Johnson fashion show without some tulle! This year she donned a wedding theme, more specifically, Prenup, complete with dresses, tulle, lingerie, lace, and drag queens. I always love her shows because she never takes herself too seriously and knows how to have fun. The eye makeup scared me a little bit, but "It's not a party unless you do something that scares ya,- The Office

Mary Katrantzou

For her show, Mary took inspiration from the shifting of tectonic plates to craft simple sheaths, dresses, and skirts embroidered with detailing reminiscent of prehistoric sea creatures.

Dries Van Noten
You wouldn't think of rainbow colors like red yellow and blue as earthy,or woodsy, but at Dries Van Noten they certainly were. The pieces were beautiful with earth tones, flowing fabrics, and masculine touches. With the airy music, sounds of nature, and mossy catwalk, the show was truly an escape.

Kenzo

One of my favorite brands to watch, Kenzo came up with an original use of denim; boxy silhouetes, cut outs in dresses, light blues and dark blues together in interesting patterns. I also loved the lazer cut palazzo pants.

Ellie Saab

Inspired by the ocean, I can see these prints really working a street style mini, blousey top, wide brimmed hat and platform heels look. Some remind me of Philip Lim spring 2013. There were some sexy black lace looks to kill in, and dresses in gorgeous light turquoise prints, and in ombre tones of stunning oranges and blues. So therefore I'm also giving Ellie Saab the award for best dresses.

Milly

Watching this show, I was like Yes.Yes.Yes.I'll take that. Charge it to my card..except I have no card, or money... I just adored Michelle Smith's very wearable and contemporary line with body con dresses with cut outs paired with beanies, organza, geometric prints, and this must have fuzzy blue sweater, I'm in love!

3.1 Philip Lim

This collection wasn't simple in the sense that it was basic. Far from it actually. It was minimal in a sense that the color palette was simple, the silhouettes and lines were clean. But the way that he executed with sharp textures and shapes made this a very elegant collection.

Jean Paul Gaultier
Jean Paul finished his last RTW show with a bang. There was a combination of all the things he is famous for; rhinestones, Mexican wrestling costumes, you name it. The show also included a beauty pageant and magazine editor impersonations. It was a real crowd pleaser.

Dolce and Gabbana
Dolce and Gabbana produced a beautiful collection sticking to their traditional spanish, italian themes. With matador jackets, that I loved paired with matching crop tops and shorts. Most of the clothes were red or black, with embroidered flowers, flamenco polka dots, and corsets and stockings. Watching this show really took me back to Spain, even though I've never been there... and now I really want to.

Fendi
I always look forward to what Fendi has to offer. The monsters, heels, and handbags were superb. But they have to be since those will make up most of the brands' income, but the outfits were fantastic. The youthful looks included denim, cute hair pieces, short skirts, sandals, and Cara Delevingne nuff said.
p.s. also, this last dress would make a knock out party dress, don't ya think?

Altuzarra
The show soundtracked Rosemary's baby, a haunting horror film, inducing  an innocent picnic in the park vibe with the very wearable gingham pieces that were slightly sexy but as the music kicked up so did the outfits. We're talking sexy sheer and latticed dresses and gorgeous orange and golden floral gowns.

Last but not least...

Chanel
Arguably the most popular show looked forward to, Karl Lagerfeld executes a breathtaking, commericial friendly, feminist themed show. Last years show took place at supermarket Chanel if you will, and this year it's boulevard Chanel, with models parading down the street in a range of looks. There was a canvas of colors at Chanel, tweed suits obviously but revamped in water color purples, oranges, and pinks. There are some preppy looks with polos, mini skirts, but with a twist. Business appropriate looks in blues and blacks, more on trend looks like button up jackets with sheer dresses. Gisele in a sweater dress, lacquered pinstripes, and as a finale the models protested, waving their feminist signs and yelling into their megaphones, all dressed to the nines. There were so many great looks it was hard to pick a favorite.
